What we have done, where we still fall short, and how to tell us something is in your way.
Commitment
Our commitment to access
Austin Remodel and Restoration wants this website to be usable by everyone, including people who browse with a screen reader, keyboard, magnification, or captions.
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. That standard is what most public guidance points to, and we treat it as the target rather than a finish line.
What we have done
Measures in place
- Every image carries descriptive alternative text.
- Each page has one main heading and a logical heading order beneath it.
- A "skip to content" link lets keyboard users bypass the navigation.
- Form fields have visible labels tied to their inputs, and errors are announced rather than shown by color alone.
- The site reflows to narrow screens without horizontal scrolling and remains usable when text is enlarged.
- Navigation, links, and buttons are reachable and operable by keyboard.
Known gaps
Where we know we fall short
We would rather name these than imply the site is perfect:
- Some decorative animation triggers on scroll. If you use a reduced-motion setting and still see movement, tell us and we will fix it.
- Contrast on a few gold-on-dark accents sits close to the minimum ratio rather than comfortably above it.
- Content on pages we link to but do not control may not meet the same standard.
These are on our list. If something else is getting in your way, that moves to the top of the list.
